Shield Arms DS18 18-Round Steel Magazine for Glock 19 Now Available, Alongside New DS18 Starter Kit

30 Oct 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BIGFORK, MT – October 30, 2026 – Shield Arms, a Bigfork, Montana maker of steel aftermarket Glock magazines and firearm accessories, today announced that its DS18 magazine for the Glock 19 is now available. The DS18 holds 18 rounds of 9mm, three more than the factory 15-round Glock 19 magazine, with only a minimal increase in overall length.

The DS18 is sold on its own and in the new DS18 Starter Kit, which pairs one magazine with the steel mag catch DS-Series magazines are designed to run with. Customers choose a Gen 3 or Gen 4/5/6 catch to match their pistol.

More Rounds From a Steel Body

The DS18's extra capacity comes from its steel body. Steel walls are thinner than the polymer overmold on a factory Glock magazine, leaving room inside for three more rounds without a large jump in length.

The DS18 also has an over-insertion stop stamped directly into the steel body. The stop keeps the magazine from seating too deep in the grip, so it locks in at the same depth on every reload. Glock builds this feature into its factory magazines; most aftermarket magazines leave it out.

The DS18 fits Gen 3, 4, 5 and 6 Glock 19 pistols. It joins the DS20, a 20-round magazine for the Glock 17, 34, 45, 47 and 19X, in the DS-Series line. The series carries forward the steel-body construction Shield Arms introduced with its S-Series magazines for the Glock 43X and 48.

The DS18 Starter Kit

The DS18 Starter Kit includes one DS18 magazine and one steel mag catch, so a Glock 19 owner can set up the pistol in one order. Customers select a Gen 3 or Gen 4/5/6 catch when adding to cart.

DS-Series magazines are steel, and the factory Glock mag catch is polymer. Shield Arms believes the best path to long-term reliability is steel on steel or polymer on polymer, so DS-Series magazines are designed to run with a steel catch. The company does not recommend running factory polymer Glock magazines against the steel catch, because it increases wear on the polymer magazine.

The catch is a one-time swap. After it is installed, additional DS18 magazines can be added on their own. The catch is also sold separately as the DS-Series Standard Mag Catch.

"The Glock 19 is the pistol a lot of people carry every day, so we didn't want to change how it carries," said Brandon Zeider, CEO and co-founder of Shield Arms. "The DS18 gives it three more rounds with only a minimal change in length. With the Starter Kit, you open one box and you have everything you need to run it."
